Alert Address
i-traks ltd has launched a new, Free service, for its business customers. Designed to protect lone workers and called Alert Addresses, this service provides automatic warnings for lone workers, who are about to enter an address where there has been an issue with the resident.
Description
The location of the address and its status is held centrally as coordinates, without any personal information attached. This takes the alert system out of the domain of the data protection act and simplifies use of the information.
A virtual boundary is created around the address, and as a worker enters the boundary (wearing a tracking device) they are automatically alerted. The operations room or supervisors are contacted at the same time to ensure that contact is made with the lone worker.
The supervisor can then discuss the alert address status and decide how to proceed.

Solar Powered Street Cleaner
i-traks ltd were asked to create a GPS tracking solution for street cleaning trolleys.
The units needed to be:
- independent and never need to be charged
- self monitoring
- fitted to the front small bin
- controlled remotely from the main office
- weather resistant
- have a panic switch
- two way communication
The solution
i-traks ltd created a dual battery system which charges from a solar panel. The tracker is modular and is fitted to the front bin.It requires no technical skill to operate and no infrastructure. It is permanently on, and has inbuilt power management.
The solution was based on the Rover Plus electroncs, which was repackaged to suit this application and to house the batteries and power management system
The tracker is simple to use, functional and efficient.
Horse Tracker
i-traks were asked to create a GPS tracking solution to monitor the location of horses
The units needed to be:
- weather resistant
- mounted on a harness
- have an external charge point
- report at various intervals
The solution
i-traks ltd created used a Ranger II as the basis of the tracker and installed in within a waterproof plastic box. The box was them mounted onto a harness, with counter weight to ensure the GPS aerial is always pointing at the sky.
The use of the i-traks Ranger II, allows full control using the i-traks console software.
Wild Boar Tracker
i-traks were asked to create a GPS tracking solution to track Wild Boar.
The units needed to:
- Be releaseable using
- Remote release system via GPRS
- On a reset date
- On low battery
- have a battery life of up to 6 months
- magnetic on/off control
- be fitted to a suitable harness
- resetable and rechargeable in the field
- housing machined from Aluiminum
The solution
i-traks ltd used the electronics from a Rover Plus, as these provide a function to operate the drop system using GPRS, this was combined with Hi Torgue servo.
A large battery pack was designed and manufatured to allow up to 6 months tracking. A seprate battery pack is used for the drop system.
A prototype case was machined and combined with a project case.
Spots v Stripes
i-traks were asked to create a GPS tracking solution Spots v Stripes game of Catch.
The units needed to:
- Reports once an hours inside a ball
- have a battery life of up to 14 days
The solution
i-traks ltd created a new firware for the i-traks Lite, this enabled the i-traks Lite to close down the GPS functions, to save battery power. The GPS functions where started after unit had completed its programmed interval and where active for 3 minutes.
Blue Tree Services produced an API to allow tracking data to be show on Cadburys website
